Let’s just say there were other wines at V. Sattui that enjoyed far more…

Do your notes on the Sattui 2001 Pinot Noir Henry’s ranch mean you enjoyed or did not enjoy the wine?

And if crowds permit, I will certainly not hesitate to bring visiting guests (and I will also not hesitate to stop on my way home to buy cheese — where else can I get Wensleydale so inexpensively???).
But I will probably avoid it on weekends when I see hoards of cars trying to get in though!

Just use it to dip biscotti into. That’s how we (“we” = your average, middle-aged Italo-American from New Jersey) do it. As to V. Sattui, there’s room for all kinds. My guests find it fun. I guess I’ve been there 25-30 times over the last decade and it seems that the pouring staff does a good job of adjusting to the level of sophistication (or, in my case, lack thereof) of the particular guest. And, although crowded, the missing pretentiousness and all the good eats make for nice stop … and you can’t beat the price for the tasting in Napa.
